  • Start by filling out our intake form, which will book your free initial consultation with a LifeBac medical provider. If you’re eligible, they’ll prescribe craving-fighting medication to let you effortlessly moderate your drinking. Your medication will automatically be shipped for free in discreet packaging. While you wait, your LifeBac personal coach will reach out to start guiding you through the program. You set your own goals, and your coach will work with you to map out an achievable plan for success. You’ll continue to meet regularly over call or chat with your provider and/or coach as often as you wish, optimizing your plan and making sure you’re on your way to getting your life back.

When you get your baclofen, you’ll start at a standard small dose, titrating up (increasing dosage) until you reach your effective dose. This point, which is different for everyone, is the dose at which your cravings are totally suppressed, known as indifference to alcohol. The doctor-patient relationship, or “therapeutic alliance,” is critically important to baclofen treatment especially – keeping in regular communication with your coach and provider letting them know how your dose is affecting you is essential for success on baclofen.Don’t take our word for it, check out our client testimonials and visit these links for more information about baclofen and naltrexone.

  • Baclofen interacts with everyone a little differently, so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question — when you start baclofen, it’ll take 6-12 weeks for you to titrate to your effective dose (the dose at which cravings are totally suppressed). Some people notice a gradual reduction in their drinking throughout this time, while others describe reaching the dose as a “lightbulb moment” of change. Over the following 3 months, your brain will slowly rewire itself to your new normal of moderation or abstinence, cementing your progress and empowering you to work on long-term habit change unburdened by cravings for alcohol.

Most of our members start to see noticeable improvement by week two, and average a 50% reduction in drinking habits by the third month. Within 6 months, the average LifeBac member is drinking one-fifth as much alcohol as they were when they signed up.

  • While the core component of the LifeBac program is the medication, members have access to a range of other resources that have proven to be instrumental for the LifeBac members that have seen the most effective long-term habit change.

  • When a medication has been FDA-approved as safe and effective to treat a particular issue, but can also be prescribed as treatment for something else, this alternative use is referred to as off-label. For example, baclofen was initially approved by the FDA in 1977 to treat muscle spasms, but has since been found to also effectively treat anxiety and Alcohol Use Disorder, for which it’s prescribed off-label. Off-label prescribing is remarkably common in the United States, especially for mental health, addiction, and pediatric care. An estimated 40-60% of all prescriptions in the United States are off-label. (Source)

  • As the only program in the space that includes medication from our own US-based partner pharmacy, we don’t currently accept insurance. Shame and stigma are two of the main barriers for most over-drinkers, so our program is centered around discretion and anonymity — the only people who have to know about your journey are you, your LifeBac provider, and your personal coach.

  • Like with any medication, side effects are totally dependent on your own unique body chemistry and vary from person to person. The most common side effects for baclofen are weakness, drowsiness, dizziness, and headaches. Side effects are most common when titrating the medication up (regularly increasing dosage), and are usually easily handled by either pausing titration or temporarily reducing your dosage. Baclofen has no permanent or long-term side effects that can’t be immediately dealt with by stopping treatment. 70% of our members don’t ever encounter side effects, and when they do occur, they are usually very mild.
